Valvoline NextGen™ engine oil pushes the limits at the 2012 Dakar Rally

BARENDRECHT, Netherlands – Valvoline™, a brand of Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH), announced that its recently introduced Valvoline All-Fleet Extra NextGen SAE 15W-40, ACEA E7-08 engine oil was selected as the engine oil of choice by the Van den Brink Rallysport & Mammoet Rallysport team at the recent 2012 Dakar Rally in South America. The Dutch team, driving in an X 2222 GINAF, finished in 13th position in the truck category at this year’s event, which covered a 9.000 km route from the Atlantic Ocean through the mountains and desert dunes of Argentina, Chile and Peru to the Pacific coast of the continent.

Dakar 2012...it has started

The most extreme rally in the world: Dakar! Has started again. All competitors are on their way and the first cars and motorcycles have already made it back to the basecamp. The Valvoline truck has passed WP1 in position 11. See the video of the kick-off below

Stage 1 Dakar, great results

The first round of Dakar has started with a sound result for the Valvoline team! Martin started as 10th and drove as fast as he could. With only a slight delay in the dunes, the team managed to overtake the mighty Kamaz and finished 7th of the day, a great position to start from on day 2. See video of day 1 below

With all the trucks, cars and motorcycles speeding across the Dakar trials, we would almost forget about the guys that are bringing the new to us! This year the Dakar press relies on Valvoline to keep their offroad cars going!
